Droids & Ewoks Omnibus Preview
May 14, 2012 - A web site called geeksofdoom.com has posted an exclusive preview of the upcoming Droids and Ewoks comic omnibus. 8 pages of this must have comic are viewable, and it's amazing to see how fresh and sharp the colors are in the omnibus as compared to the original comics. Click on the link above to check it out!
Also on the topic of the omnibus, Amazon.com has this comic available for just $13.15! That's a pretty good price for a book that's listed as being 528 pages. Amazon.ca has it listed for $31.31, and chapters.indigo.ca's price is $17.49, so American fans are certainly winning out price wise. James C. Twitter News
April 29, 2012 - Apparently our Twitter account was hacked and was sending out messages that were not from me. I have deactivated the Twitter account in hope that this will put an end to this problem. Sorry if you received a strange message claiming it was from me.
James C. Droids Fan Art
April 26, 2012 - Like I've said before, if there isn't much for new Droids or Ewoks stuff coming out any time soon, make your own! I am by no means a great artist and rarely paint pictures, but after looking through my Droids comics (a gift from starwars.com!) I noticed this guy in the background in issue 7 and got to wondering what he could look like in color. I figured that I would never find out unless I gave it a try myself. This startled looking alien was seen wandering the streets of Mos Eisley in the 'Star Wars as seen by the Droids' 3 part series of the Droids comic that came out in 1987. You can spot him in the background in the picture below. Check out the cat in the window too!
Like I said, I'm not a great artist, so he looks pretty simple, but I prefer the simple art in old comics and coloring books, so it's kind of in line with what I like anyway. This picture was painted with acrylic paints on just a simple sheet of computer paper. Maybe next time I should give watercolors a try! James C. Wooden Thall Joben
April 4, 2012 - Here's a wooden Thall Joben figure that I finished today, to go along with the rest of my wood Droids and Ewoks figures. He's made in a bit of a different style than the previous figures, but I think he still fits in alright.
Have a great Easter weekend! James The Future of Droids and EwoksMarch 23, 2012 - The droidsandewoks.com domain name will be changing on April 26, 2012 back to droidsandewoks.weebly.com, as the paid domain name is set to expire. At the same time, I will be stepping back from being one of the main contributors to the site. But all is not lost! Our forum administrator darth_sidious has agreed to continue to provide updates to the site and keep things up and running. Thank you to everyone who has supported this website over the past several years! In the time since this website was founded, we have seen our favorite Star Wars cartoons start to receive more attention than they had in previous years. The official site, starwars.com, put together a great feature on the 25 anniversary of the Droids and Ewoks cartoons back in 2010, a feature that I was honored to be able to contribute to, and Hasbro has made six figures that are either totally or partially inspired by Droids, Ewoks or the Ewoks movies (BL-17, Boba Fett, Teek, Kaink, Wicket with green hood, Princess Kneesaa). All this is due to the passion of the fans on this site and in all the other places where Droids and Ewoks fans let their voices be heard. Keep up the good work of bringing attention to the fun, innocent and most kid friendly area of Star Wars!
As for me, I will still be stopping in from time to time, and who knows, I may be contributing content again, but for now, it's time for me to focus on other things in life. Keep up the fun! James Cole - Founder of droidsandewoks.com Ewok multipack - closer to being official?
March 18, 2012: POTF2.com reveals another image that Ewok fans will love - it appears to be the back of the box from the upcoming Ewok multipack. While its not officially confirmed by Hasbro - this image speaks for itself. We're told they will be announced at SDCC later this year.
