Far
above the planet of Ingo, three A-Wing fighters speed past large pieces
of orbiting space debris, recently jettisoned by a captured freighter.
On
the surface of the planet, in the middle of Ingo's arid salt-flat
deserts, C-3PO emerges from some recently crash-landed wreckage. C-3PO
laments being discarded by his former master; a gambler and smuggler who
had been apprehended by the authorities, but not before ridding himself
of all of his stolen goods. Soon, C-3PO realizes that his counterpart
R2-D2, who had also also been jettisoned with 3PO, was nowhere to be
seen. The droid begins to search among the wreckage, and soon finds
pieces of metal that resemble parts of R2's body. Convinced that R2 has
been destroyed, C-3PO reminisces about all of R2's good qualities as he
mourns the loss of his friend. Just then, R2 emerges from being buried,
and is greeted by an angry C-3PO who takes back all of the nice things
that he has just said!

As
the droids make their way through the desert, C-3PO complains,
"Where is a master when you need one?" After a few beeps of
warning from R2, both droids duck as a landspeeder zooms overtop of
them. The speeder circles around and comes to a stop beside the droids.
The pilot of the speeder takes an immediate interest in R2-D2. A second
speeder then pulls up, and the partner of the first speeder pilot
remarks that an R2 unit is just what they need. C-3PO is frustrated that
no one seems to be paying attention to him. The two men tell the droids
that they are the racing team of Thall Joben and Jord Dusat, and that
they will be the droids new masters.
Thall
and Jord load the droids on their speeders and begin to make their way
back to their shop. Unbeknownst to them, a woman is watching them from a
distance with macrobinoculars. As the speeders fly through the desert,
explosive seeker droids emerge from craters that mark the surface of the
planet and begin to pursue the speeders. After some evasive maneuvers,
Thall manages to lose one of the seekers, but not before C-3PO is thrown
overboard. Jord bails out of his speeder just before it is destroyed.
Meanwhile, a gigantic Tower Droid emerges behind C-3PO and prepares to
attack. Just as C-3PO throws a rock at the droid, the woman who had been
watching in the distance blasts the droid, destroying it. Thall and Jord,
thinking that 3PO had destroyed the droid, retrieve C-3PO and head for
home.
In a
secret hideout, Tig Fromm and Vlix witness the escape of the speeder.
Vlix threatens to contact Tig's father Sise about what had just
happened. Tig, not wanting to get his father involved, says that he will
keep his secret weapon, the Trigon One, safe, and that he will deal with
the intruders himself.

Back
in the shop, after doing some maintenance work on Thall's speeder, Jord
show's the droids the racing team's new speeder, the White Witch. The
team is hoping to enter an off-world race, but have no way of getting
there.
That
evening, Thall and the droids leave the shop and head for home. Jord
stays behind at the shop to do a little more work. As soon as Thall
takes off, another speeder begins to follow him. Still another speeder
pulls up at the shop. Jord hears someone enter, and states that the shop
is closed. He turns around just before he is attacked by a droid. All
the while, the whole scene had been observed by the same woman that had
been watching in the desert.
In
town, Thall 3PO and R2 watch from behind a building as the perusing
speeder passes by. They then head back to the shop to warn Jord that
someone is after them. Arriving at the shop, they find that the place is
a mess and Jord is missing. The woman who had been watching emerges,
introduces herself as Kea Moll, and says that Jord was taken away by
Muscle Droids. She tells them that she had been watching them in the
desert, and that she needs a mechanic for her ship. R2 detects something
outside and Thall goes to check. Several Muscle Droids emerge and begin
to surround Thall. Just as he is about to be captured, the White Witch,
being piloted by Kea, crashes into the Muscle Droids, rescues Thall, and
speeds away.
Tig
and Vlix emerge from behind a building where they had been watching.
Vlix mocks Tig for relying on droids to do a man's job. Vlix says that
he could have got "a few of the boys together", instead of
using Tig's incompetent Muscle Droids. Tig rejects the idea, and insists
on only using droids.

Back
in the desert, Thall, Kea and the droids are spying on Tig's secret
base. R2 has already been sent inside to look for Jord. R2 opens a door
that will give the White Witch access to the service tubes of the base.
Thall retrieves R2, and the two of them set off in the White Witch down
the service tubes toward the base's detention area.
Meanwhile,
in the detention area, Jord is being guarded by Vlix. Tig Fromm enters
the room, and is mistaken by Jord to be Sise Fromm. Vlix chuckles at the
notion, and Tig goes on to brag about how his ways are superior to his
father's. Jord is relieved that he is not being held by Sise, much to
the annoyance of Tig. From all of Tig's ranting, Jord get's the notion
that Tig wants to take over Jabba the Hutt and the other rival gangs.
Tig confirms that this is indeed his plan. Vlix, who obviously prefers
the old way of Sise Fromm offers to rearrange Jord's molecules. Tig
declines, and says that Jord is to be sent to Sise Fromm's stronghold on
Anoo. Jord defiantly tells the gangsters that his friends will bust him
out. Vlix, who has had his fill, roughs up Jord and says, "Show me
a droid who can do that."
Meanwhile,
back in the tunnels, Thall, Kea and the droids have come to a dead end.
A thick metal door stands in their way barring their speeder's progress.
Thall reaches into the White Witch and picks up a small metal object. He
says that it's something that was left in his shop in a speeder that was
never reclaimed by it's owner. Thall presses a button and a green blade
emerges. He uses the lightsaber to cut through the door. Thall and R2
continue on to a control station that lies ahead, while Kea and C-3PO
stay behind to monitor a control panel.

From
their station, Kea and 3PO are to monitor Thall's progress and re-direct
any oncoming traffic away from him. While operating the controls, a maintenance
droid enters the room and confronts C-3PO. While 3PO attempts to
persuade the droid that he is actually security, the real security droid
enters the room. The droids attack 3PO and Kea, but inadvertently end up
destroying each other.
After
Thall has a near miss with a closing door, Kea informs him that Jord is
being moved. Thall crashes through a wall where Jord is being led away
by two droids. Jord knocks the droids out of the way with his belly, and
is freed from his bonds by Thall's lightsaber. The two of them take off,
evading lasers that are firing at them from the ceiling.
Tig
is now aware of the intruders and orders Vlix to send security droids
after them. After hearing Vlix's transmission to the droids, C-3PO sends
a new transmission that diverts the droids to a different area.
As
Thall and Jord come closer to escaping, Tig gives the order for droid
cruisers to be sent to intercept the Whit Witch once it reaches the
surface. Vlix reminds Tig that the sentry droids would attack the
cruisers, thinking that they are intruders. Tig orders the sentries to
be shut down, while Vlix expresses his annoyance that men aren't being
used to do the job.

Thall,
Jord and R2 arrive in the White Witch and pick up Kea and 3PO. Just
around the corner is a room with a control panel that opens a door to
the outside. This room also happens to be full of deactivated sentry
droids. As they open the door, the droid cruisers that have been waiting
outside immediately begin firing on them. Jord sends C-3PO to reactivate
the sentry droids, which he hopes will begin attacking the cruisers. 3PO
successfully activates the sentries, which start filing out of the
compound to fight the cruisers. While the enemy droids are fighting each
other, the White Witch speeds through the open door away from the
battle, but not before being tracked by seeker droids. Thall manages to
evade all but one. Just before the final seeker is about to hit, Jord
throws a box of equipment out of the back of the speeder. The seeker
strikes the box as the White Witch speeds away to Kea's ship.
Back
in the compound, Vlix is criticizing Tig for his incompetence, and
warning that if word of Tig's takeover plans get out, they will be
facing a lot of heat from the rival gangs.
In
the desert, Kea's ship takes off, carrying Thall, Jord and the droids on
their way to the Boonta Speeder Race.
